2660 Billion
The Indian Animation & VFX industry is projected to grow at a CAGR of 15.5 percent during FY18-23 to reach INR 151.8 Billion.
As Indian VFX Players are moving up the value chain, the VFX industry in India is seeing strong traction. While Indian VFX
houses have made successful forays in foreign markets, contributing to major blockbusters, the demand of VFX in domestic
firms and TV shows has also shot up markedly. The VFX and Post-production industry in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of
16.9 percent during FY18-23.
The Indian Animation industry has also continued its growth momentum. While the linear TV broadcast demand for animation,
led by new kids channel launches, has driven the industry, digital has provided a major impetus with a number of Video-on-Demand (VOD) platforms launching kids’ properties. Further, the services segment has continued to dominate animation revenues on the back of demand from TV and film production. The Animation industry in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of 10.2
percent during FY18-23.
With a growth rate of 22 percent over the next five years, gaming in India is expected to touch INR 118.8 Billion by FY23 on the
back of continued smartphone penetration, growing gaming user base, and improved monetization supported by increased
localization and technology innovations around data and analytics, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR).
