The much-anticipated animated series, Baahubali: Crown of Blood, has taken the top spot on Disney+ Hotstar, becoming the number one Hindi show (beating out live-action shows and films) as of May 20, 2024.
“The Baahubali universe is vast, and the films were just the beginning,” said S.S. Rajamouli, creator of the Baahubali universe. “Crown of Blood delves deeper, revealing unknown aspects of Baahubali and Bhallaladeva’s lives, including a long-forgotten secret. Together, they must protect Mahishmati. We’re thrilled to introduce this new chapter through animation, offering a fresh perspective on the world of Baahubali. Collaborating with Sharad Devarajan, Disney+ Hotstar, and Graphic India allows us to redefine Indian animation for a wider audience.”
Sharad Devarajan, co-creator, writer, and producer of Baahubali: Crown of Blood, echoed this sentiment: “S.S. Rajamouli’s storytelling has captivated millions. Crown of Blood is an action-packed adventure brimming with political intrigue, drama, betrayal, war, heroism, and loyalty. This marks my second collaboration with Disney+ Hotstar on an adult-oriented animated series, following The Legend of Hanuman. They’ve been instrumental in launching these groundbreaking shows in India.”
Independent data firm Ormax Media confirms Baahubali: Crown of Blood’s dominance, listing it among the top three Hindi shows/films across all Indian streaming platforms for the past week.
The series, which premiered on May 17th, is a joint creation of Rajamouli and Devarajan. They, along with Shobu Yarlagadda, serve as producers. The story is penned by Devarajan, with direction and production by Jeevan J. Kang & Navin John.
